Services

Artist Agency helps artists manage the business behind the work, from strategy and pricing to contracts, sales and project delivery.

Artist Agency is an artist-sided business and career partner for working artists. We help you pursue bookings and commissions, negotiate contracts, price and sell work, manage projects, and build the systems behind a practice that can last. We work directly with artists as well as alongside galleries, institutions, and other existing partners, adding capacity where needed. Get practical help with the decisions, deals, projects and systems that sit behind a working art practice.

Before you say yes, look at the whole opportunity. A good opportunity should do more than sound impressive. Together, we ask: Does it align with your values? Does it support you financially? Does it move your practice forward? The answers shape the deal, the plan or the decision to walk away.

Career strategy

Clarify direction, positioning, income opportunities and the next moves that matter.

Negotiation + advocacy

Work through contracts, fees, commissions, acquisitions and institutional relationships.

Project management

Build proposals, budgets, timelines and communication that keep ambitious work moving.

Practice systems

Organize inventory, documentation, outreach, records and long-range planning.

Before I began working with Elizabeth, I was preparing for my first solo museum show at CAMSTL. I was managing my organization on my own, hoping for the best. Once Elizabeth was brought in, she had me focus on action points. With her guidance, the priorities became clear. I was able to clarify my communication with museum curators and organizers, request PR images and installation shots, invite external curators, and actively campaign for this exhibition to become a traveling show. Lamb inquired about merch for my show and brainstormed with me about what it should look like. More importantly, she helped me negotiate an artist fee that is commensurate with where I am in my career (and nothing less). We set bi-weekly meetings to make sure admin responsibilities are cared for (kind of like an accountability buddy who works in arts admin; I needed this badly). I can honestly say I am having an experience with my first solo show that is immensely better than what I would have been able to execute on my own. Elizabeth has helped me become more organized in how I manage my art career. And no matter how small my inquiry is, she takes the time to walk me through best- and worst-case scenarios. The anxiety I have surrounding arts admin work has diminished greatly; I can never repay Elizabeth Lamb for that.

Why

Making art is only part of the job. You are also expected to negotiate, budget, follow up, keep records, manage relationships and plan what comes next, often inside systems that were never designed to be easy to read. A promising opportunity can still arrive with vague scope, thin budgets, one-sided terms or more labor than anyone named upfront. Artist Agency brings experience and practical support to your side of the table, so you can protect your interests, move opportunities forward, and build a career that can sustain the work. Bring the weird contract, the unfinished budget and the email you have rewritten six times. We will help you see the whole picture, decide what is worth pursuing and handle the business without letting it take over the work.
